I've heard lotsa different ideas on this subject so perhaps it should be decided democratically? What did Zodiac intend to represent with this symbol on the 10/27/70 Halloween card and accompanying envelope?http://www.zodiackiller.com/HalloweenCa ... .htmlSorry, I'm sure I've missed some good ideas so feel free to improvise if your idea of the symbol is not represented in the poll.

How about a new way of writing "Zodiac"? The first and last letters comibined in a stylish Z and the four dots representing o, d, i and c.

I voted for Gaik in Brahmi. Yeah, the Brahmi symbols are a little bit different, but to me they look closer to his name than not. A little too close... His name just keeps popping up everywhere and it is becoming very difficult for me to believe that it is just a coincidence! My second vote would have gone to the wind barb theory. I'm not sure what the Zodiac may have been trying to say using weather symbols but it just fits so well!

It's like an "ink-blot" test. I do see a resemeblence to Mt. Diablo, I see it looking like something astrological as well. It also reminds me of the "Masonic" symbol--at least the center of the figure Z drew. And yes, it could be a symbol representing a specific writing. Needless to say--I can't choose as I don't feel confident enough in any one specifically. It's interesting to know what people think. Good poll.

I think the movie Kwaidan was mentioned in relation to the floating eyes, not the "wide flange."

I'm of the opinion that it is a representation of mount diablo - made to look like something more significant to keep people guessing...

I think it might be a symbol to represent the zodiac's artistic representation of his victim's number vs. the police. It has four dots and the zodiac usually leaves that message on the bottom of his letters.

I wanted to post this on another thread, but I guess this thread is close enough.Herb Caen's writing has been described as "3 dot (...) journalism." Maybe Z used the 4 dots on the symbol to brag that he was a better writer than Caen. Another taunt.
