I agree.  Those other filmmakers with Ross in that photo, some of them are likely still alive.  It's just a matter of tracking them down now.  They could have the very film Ross worked on, they could have documents/materials with his handwriting, etc.

UPDATE:  I searched online for Allan Silliphant, the director of that movie in which Ross was involved.  I foundhim on Facebook.  He has a plane as his Facebook cover photo.  I verified it was him as it says he is president of Stereovision on his Facebook profile; then I found this via wikipedia:    Silliphant and Condon's company, Stereovision International, Inc., actually started a "real life" commercial airline, Sierra Pacific Airlines,[3] which, under different ownership, continues to operate today with a modern jet transport fleet."

I'm not going to message this guy; I would much rather someone with detective background and a history of work on the Zodiac case reach out to him.  But, it is nice to know this guy is still out there.
He was contacted a while back.  Nothing to offer.
Nothing to offer?  How about classic moviemaking?

^^^He would definitely be someone to talk to in regard to that!

I guess there are some new handwriting samples available from Ross, maybe someone can post them here. Hopefully it consists of entire words and not individual letters.

In elementary school we were all taught to form letters of the alphabet the same way, both printing and script. You could pour through my printing and cherry pick examples where a letter of the alphabet that I drew looks just like the same written by Sullivan, Gaikowski, or even Sal LaBarbara for that matter. Means nothing. Now if you can find entire words with the same construction as that of Zodiac, it starts to get meaningful.

Are there any entire words written by Sullivan that can be displayed next to the same words written by Zodiac?

This is an example of just such a comparison I created years ago showing similar words written by a suspect and the Zodiac:
