I personally like the story of the guy who was kidnapped for a week or so by a "family" of Bigfoot's!He used snuff and coffee grounds to give to the "daddy" bigfoot and then finally fled IIRC.Kidnapped while he was sleeping in his sleeping bag I think!!! SPOOKY!!!That really is some God awful terrain!!

I don't think Beck and the other Ape Canyon miners were kooks. Most likely they were just trying to rationalize what happened. Back in the 1920s little was known about the Bigfoot phenomenon. Also, local indians had superstitions about the origin of Bigfoot and that probably influenced Beck to a degree into thinking they were other-worldly, supernatural, etc.

Cool you got to go to the historic place!
We'll be back this weekend, or at least super close. I don't know if Angie and I will make it all the way to the canyon. Two nights of camping in Cougar (just south of the mountain) and a likely trip to Ape Cave are in the works. Our tent will be pitched on the outskirts of Bigfoot Meadow. I'll take pics and audio etc.

You're probably right. Just that I found the whole story very well reasoned and believeable and then towards the end it kinda went off the wall a little bit. Still a great story for those of you who haven't read it.Vinfoot
