Some of the other attacks describe similar builds usually around 5'10 190-200 lbs yet LB is totally different. The attacker was someone possibly taller than 6 foot and over 200+ lbs.. LB just seems to stick out as being different. Not to mention that Z never bragged about it in letters and only seemed to acknowledge it by writing it on Stines door. I would like to hear more about this report that Hartnell may have met ALA face to face and heard his voice. Very interesting
He wrote it on the door of Hartnell's Kharman Gia, which was parked at LB at the time of the attack, not on the door of Stine's cab.  The writing is consistent with Z's.
Right, there's zero doubt Z was good for Berryessa.  That's not in question.
Among the many strange things about LB, we have Z in ritualistic garb. Why did he go to such trouble if he planned on killing them both?. A simple disguise is one thing, but the costume obviously had meaning for Z. For me, it points to occult (in the sense of dark arts) motivations. I like the way this is posited in "Hunter Among the Stars," a book which I believe merits serious attention.

That was the subject of a thread I posted: I think it suggests that her was obsessed with the theater, movies, & role playing, & that that angle should be focused on greatly.  Who the hell would go to that much trouble & effort to don a costume that only they themselves would know exists?  Had to have been consumed with theatrics, imo/.

And apparently he only wore it the one time. I think there's a real clue to his personality and motive there.

Right, well, once PUBLICLY anyway, that we know of.  Wouldn't surprise me if he slept in it under a mirrored ceiling.

Also too about that getup: we know Z was an attention whore, loved the spotlight, suspected to have lied & taken credit for murders he didn't commit, possibly did the same with the Kathleen Johns incident, etc. etc., & yet at the same time, went to all the aforementioned effort & such with the LB costume--knowing he would get ZERO "credit" for it, isn't that fascinating?  Idk what it says about him exactly, but it sure as hell says something.

Det.Ken Narlow believed he wore it because Zodiac's partner was filming it from a distance.

Really,  I'd never heard that.  Wouldn't surprise me if there were tandem killers.

I have always believed that there were two working in tandem , not that they were together each time. The two very different descriptions is what caused me to think that. The one at Lake B was much larger than the one seen by officer Foukes and Zelms only two weeks later. No one can loose that much weight in that short of time.

I agree with you completely, Sandy. It may have explain the variations in the handwritings in the letters and the confusion over DNA and fingerprints. I also wondered if one of the Zodiac's retired (or died) years ago while the other carried on their original deadly mission.

Hi Bugs! I think one was more of a sadistic killer than the other and that would be the one at Lake B. You could be right, the other one may have died and having two killers is why there is so much confusion.

As you know I have two suspects, I still see the one I got away from in Vallejo 1968. I refer to him as Honcho ,but haven't seen his buddy with the shaved head for many years now. ( He was the one that looked more like the SF composite) Still get the phone calls with someone on the line who has nothing to say. In1992 or 93 I was going to a crime scene in the Berkeley hills, I noticed some graffiti on the way.
Written in large bold letters was" Confusion prevails! ". I took a picture of it, because so much that I find is unbelievable and pictures do not lie.
Was that a message from the killer? I have no idea, but it sure didn't seem like gang graffiti. Scratched on the glass of a phone booth near by was " Suicide is death" and Satan saves. As far as I know that case is still unsolved. Park police felt there were two suspects, one as a look out.
