Tom, you did a great job..I would love to see all those police reports that have been in evidence for so long...I feel that with new technology this case can be solved. Take care..

Welcome 181jordan, Feel free to ask questions,we are happy to help.Stay away from "non" factual sites that have crazy theories, like Stine was shot at Washington and Maple and Zodiac guided the cab to Washington and Cherry. LOL.There is absolutely no evidence to back that up, but would have been impossible with all of the other cars that were parked on that side of the street.  We had a dear friend who has passed away, who knew someone that lived on the opposite corner, that hears the shot. "Something" had to draw the teens to that window at that time, for them to see what was taking place in Paul Stine's Cab. I believe that it had to be the shot that was fired and they didn't realize that was why they went to the window.

Thanks for posting all of this.  Is there a recommended reading list?  Most of the books that I have found  seem to offer some unique theory that each author is trying to propagate concerning the identity of the killer as opposed to the known facts and knowledge gaps of the cases.  Thanks in advance!

I always suggest people start here and read in order.

As far as a book that is not about suspects, but about the Zodiac case in general, with police reports , is Mark G Hewitt's "Hunted". It is by far the best I have read and I have read many. There is information in that book that I had never read before. Worth far more than the $18.00 he is asking for it. Start with Tom's "start here" first then think about the book.

Congratulations Tom on getting inside an evidence room.  It was long overdue...Your heart must have been racing...Good luck on future visits....You know I've seen that picture of James Phillips before.  I don't know where, maybe someone posted on your site, or another site, I don't know.  the guy is a dead ringer for someone I grew up with, so when I first saw it years ago I had to laugh.  Memory cells just don't allow me to recall where I could have seen it.....

BA60's, I posted pictures of Jim Phillips in high school and his graduation picture on this site yrs ago. Some of those pictures were copy and pasted to Morfs site. You could have seen the pictures at either site. I have seen Jim Phillips in person and know that all of those pictures are him. If you went to school near Redding Ca, that is where Jim went to high school. He was in grammar school down south in southern Calif. The only thing that has changed over the yrs , is that his hair got lighter the hair style is no longer a darker crew cut and he has gained weight , his face is more full than in the 60's.Still wares very thick glasses , he looks more like 5ft 9 or10 than 5ft 6. Ed N is 5ft 6 ,he was with me when we encountered Jim Phillips in Santa Cruz mid to late 90's.. Ed was shorter for sure, I told Ed that I was a bit afraid of Jim, he assured me not to worry that he was a black belt in Karate. I had no reason not to believe him LOL. Jim was dressed like a hippi with long hair and started to lunge at us, then backed off as we walked to Ed's car. The person at the recorders office was Jim;s friend and knew that we were headed to the library down town, he had to have phoned Jim to tell him that we were looking up records on him. Apparently that upset Jim and so he went to the library where we were. I recognized him from the picture I had of him and asked him if he was Jim Phillips? He denied it and waited outside of the library until closing to taunt us I guess? He gave the impression that he was mentally unstable, I can see why Darlene was so afraid of him.

Hi Sandy, isn't this a different Jim Phillips pictured? Tom wrote that it was not Darlene's ex-husband. My understanding is that it is another suspect with the same name.
