It occurred to me that Bryan Hartnell is quite fortunate that upon being asked if his gun was loaded, that Z didn't "demonstrate" that it was loaded, instead of simply showing him the clip.  A demonstration would have been a very Z type of way to answer, I'm almost surprised that he didn't.   I wonder if Z thought about that afterwards & regretted not shooting the gun as a reply.

I believe that he brought the gun just in case anything got out of hand. A worst case scenario type of deal. Gun would echo and draw quite a bit of unwanted attention.

Of course Cecelia's screams, not to mention Bryan's were also quite the attention grabber's, one would think.

Totally agree. My logic is that screams from a distance may be misinterpreted as playful screams one may hear in a recreation area. Gunfire may be alarming.

Idk, when they're combined with "oh god, someone please help me"?,  Also you might be able to say the same about gunshots at a distance too, it's whatever though..  I'm guessing the real reason is probably that Z's "play" that day scripted stabbing deaths, not shootings.  He was the lead role in the theater of his mind, there can be no doubt about that.

I agree with DartsinEyes, that gun would have echoed through out that canyon, much louder than their screams for help. The gun was used to control them, he had no plan to shoot, his plan was to stab them. No one other than the fisherman was able to hear those screams, so the screams were not that loud.

Obviously he didn't plan to shoot them, or he would have.  It's pretty obvious no one was close enough to interfere either way--gunshot or screams as a result of stabbing.  He's also shown he's not afraid to shoot a gun in risky circumstances--the Paul Stine murder, while at nighttime--wasn't exactly "discreet"--Z had balls o'plenty & when he wanted to do something, he did it(not to give him credit, but the truth is the truth, & 1 of the main reason's this case is so fascinating, & still unsolved).  Not to mention, he was donning that costume!

Sorry, we don't have to agree, I just don't think fear of noise or detection makes sense as the reason he didn't shoot, I think it's written on the Karmnn Ghia--

I think that was the script for that day, as I said be4.  It was theater to him, I think that's why he stabbed, & only stabbed them.  Not because he was afraid to attract attention via a gunshot(s),but that's just my opinion.
