I am pretty sure I read many yrs ago that it was a facial hair. So I doubt it was from a cat or dog etc. I guess that would include a eye lash , eye brow, mustache, beard? It was light reddish brown I believe.

I would like to see what Riverside will be doing with the hair and blood found in Cheri Jo's hand. Then have a comparison done with what VPD gets back.

Amazing!

(Nothing about a rootless hair strand yet though.)

Here's another interesting one - a 70-year-old cold case in Australia, where all they have to work with is a “death mask” – a plaster cast taken of the dead man’s head and torso.

I spoke to the scientist yesterday - she's willing to consult on the Zodiac case.

Hi,

It was not a facial hair.  The hair was not coarse enough.  I postulated in 2002 that if it was a moustache hair that found its way onto the stamp as the sender licked it, that would prove that it was not the man who killed stine who licked that stamp because a few nights before he did not have a moustache.  But anyone who has paid attention to the science now knows that Z didn't lick stamps and envelopes, so that was actually a moot point in 2002 but we did not yet know it.

A forensics guy looked at the hair at the time and said t was a body hair--arm, torso, etc.  The hair was the same color as KQ's, so the color alone likely won't solve the case given that other suspects may have also had reddish-brown hair.

Mike99, So many people are stuck on the 2002 DNA test!

The test that I most often talk about ,was done in the late 90's by C. Holt. I spoke to her face to face at a SF meeting called something like "Zodiac in the fog"? Where she spoke about the male DNA that she found" under" a stamp NOT on top of it ,like that other so called Tech did.
It was not a full DNA profile ,but she said she was confident, that with how fast technology was coming along, that what she had would be enough to convict a suspect if found. I was told that the hair was a facial hair is why I posted that. If it was a arm hair or some other part of the body, are you saying that it was not a light reddish brown hair? I thought that the reason they said a facial hair, was because of the blunt cut on one end of it?

But C Holt WAS the tech on the 2002 TV special that pulled that crap DNA sample. I'm unsure how much fault lies with her or with the editors of the episode, but that test was a 15-year disaster for the Z case, or so it seems. In that special, she never said anything about a prior test or whether the 2002 sample was compared against it
