I don't think it's him but could Chandler be Troy Haughton? Haughton's a lot heavier and well, looks a bit like an even more overweight version of me. Chandler looks like my Dad but we don't really look much alike... maybe in 50 years.Anyone got good pics to compare?
If Houghton had a face transplant then maybe. However, I have seen both men and Houghton is not Chandler......

Interesting how the author of this article makes a theory of how Z, who might be Chandler, years later becomes the Ohio lovers lane killer:http://blogcritics.org/culture/article/ ... acjoseph/I guess anything is possible.

Its been forever since I've posted, so hope all is well with everyone.  Below is a link to a possible huge break in the case and maybe we can all research any missing and wanted persons from the 70s  with either the last name "Nichols" or "Nicholas"

Nobody seems interested in this case anymore; however, if you watch the link above, US Marshals took Chanlders DNA and ran the Y-Chormosome markers through ancestory databases to come up with a possible last name. Given that SFPD are the ones to hold, as well as will never release, Z's DNA profile, has the issue ever been pressed on them to give it a shot? This method also solved at 25 year unsolved murder case in Phoenix.

Tommy, I am interested. Years ago, I thought the police should enter the Zodiac's DNA in the Family Research DNA data system to see what would pop up. I joined the project and when I saw the name POWERS pop up over and over again  realized that my direct line was from a different Irish surname than my legal one. Let me know if anything else turns up.

Tommy, I felt that putting the Zodiac's DNA into the data base that it could give leads to as to his ethnic group. Richard Gaikowski was Polish, Mr. X was Norwegian, Larry Kane was Jewish and so on. Joe Chandler's connection to the Nichols name could be recent, or it could be from way back. My Powers DNA dates back to a 11th century Norman knight. Irish surnames didn't become hard and fast legal terms until the 17th century. Over the many centuries, it wasn't uncommon for stepchildren to take their stepfather's name. But finding the name Nichols could be the key to unlock this mystery of Joe Chandler.
