This story should have been titled "A Motive for Zodiac."

The author's name is apparently "Julius Fester."

THANKS TO RAND FOR SENDING

In my view, this is the blueprint for Z's political motivations for killing young, innocent white people in small towns and cities. As a sniper, Z terrorized the entire Bay Area, which, according to the article's logic, hits "the man" where it hurts most: his wallet. Terrorism of this sort destroys the economy and tears the fabric of society apart. Taking the offensive was, in this author's eyes, the next phase in the evolution of the radical movement.

I have done my best to not be drawn in to the whole Richard mania, but that gets harder to do almost on a daily basis.I will be really shocked to find out that Z was not in some way involved with this newspaper. It may turn out not to be Richard(not saying that is what I believe), but I am starting to feel it was somebody around him if not him.

The above article from Jan. 28, 1969 was reprinted from a New York newspaper, the Guardian.Hmmm...So it was originally published earlier in a paper from a state where Gaikowski had recently been working.Hmmm...The Lake Herman Road murders were within two months previous.Hmmm...Eh, his nose is all wrong.

Good find Rand!Julius Fester brings no google results for me.What intrigues me is that Richard had done an in depth article on The Brothers (a black militant group) for The Knickerbocker News in Albany and did seem to have the background and interest to write this article. Additionally, he was no longer employed in Albany at newspaper by this January, 1969.

The article was distributed by Liberation News Service (LNS), an organization used by many underground newspapers:

Devil's advocate - Don't you think you would have seen more "revolution" talk in Z's letters and taunts to the police if he was involved at this level?

Exactly Kev...unless you had your own newspaper for such an outlet.

IMHO

"The next step in the evolution of this revolutionary process will be the move from self defense to aggressive action." Hmmmmm.... just seems to keep piling up !

While I want to be highly dubious of this - while blacks may view whites as the enemy, it's hard to imagine a revolutionary viewing high school kids as the enemy - the final paragraph, with its near-call for "terrorist action," is kind of creepy.
