i was aware of the new supergun from daystate a few years ago and ive followed it through the development until it was given the name wolverine. the plan was, like the air ranger to sell the gun in high power guise. im happy to say that we in the uk are getting the choked version at 12ft/lb.
compared to the us bound models, ours are as powerful as asthmatic ants.
you lucky people over the pond are so lucky to be getting the full version very soon while we are forced to wait til july. details are below

WOLVERINE 303

Refined over an unprecedented five-year development period, the innovative Wolverine is, essentially, an all-new concept in Daystate air rifles. It incorporates many new and unique features, the most striking of which is its large calibre format. The Wolverines numeric suffix, 303, refers to this phenomenal rifles calibre yes, an air rifle that shoots a .303 projectile!

Pellets ranging from 47 grains upwards are being specifically made to suit the Wolverines barrel by famous ammo manufacturers, JSB, thus ensuring that the first fullbore airgun from Daystate is one that promises plenty of performance as well as power.

The Wolverine 303 also incorporates mechanical safety systems that would be familiar to regular firearms shooters; features such as a bolt open de-activator and a patented pneumatic indexing pin system that prevents the rifle double-loading when used with the 5-shot magazine.

Despite a muzzle energy in excess of 100ft/lb and its large bore load, the Wolverine 303 shoots with the general lack of recoil associated with precharged pneumatics with shot-counts in the region of 20 shots per charge of the 250BAR air cylinder. An integral silencer mutes muzzle report to low levels, although the muzzle is threaded for the fitting of a secondary sound suppression system, such as the AirStream ARS Moderator.

Made mostly from Aircraft grade aluminium, the weight of the Wolverine 303 belies its large-format look and, at just 7.5lb, it not only comes to the shoulder effortlessly, but handles in a manner that has become the hallmark of all Daystates famous sporting and match air rifle models.

The Wolverine 303 a powerful new statement from the maker of the worlds finest air rifles.

I still don't think a new caliber was needed but I'd love to see this rifle in a .22 or .25, once that happens I'd be more excited as I've lost interest in it after it was announced to be a .303 cal.

Yea, how much would that ammo cost? I just took a quick tour on some ammo sites, no .303 available. Now .308 would have been perfect. You would be locked in to buying 5X cost ammo with .303.

Good grief--.303 caliber is the old "British Service" round. I don't think any guns have been produced for it since the 50's. Of course, pellets aren't the same thing as cartridges, but wouldn't .308 be a more "modern-sounding" size?

IMHO It is a problem on high powered Daystate mechanical guns like Air Ranger.

with nothing from older guns being caried over to the wolverine except the filler valve and the dowty washer behind it, you can imagine the shot count in 177 or 22 at 12ft/lb. i put my money where my mouth is and ordered a uk spec 177 about a year ago.

this gun is going to be a world beater. id order now as i hear the first batch is selling out rapidly.

this gun has nothing carried over from previous daystates except the filler valve and the dowty washer behind it. its a totally different beast an d will form the basis of future daystates. no more unc, ba or unc threads on this one. all metric heads and threads.

i dont doubt the new design of valve etc will cure any valve bounce.
