Have a new Marauder and after reading posts about other brands of rifes that can damage the valve with high pressure during storage I thought I would ask if this could be a problem with the Marauder. I'm talking about storing in the 2500 to 3000psi range. Thanks for any help.

..but don't know of any tesr testing. Guns are new enough that if there were a problem, it may not have been well documented yet.

With ALL of them, tend to store them just a little above the lowest pressure that shoots well (the end of the sweet spot). Figure that if I need to grab the gun and shoot something, there are 3 or 4 good shots in which to get it shot. If i'm not in that kind of hurry, then have time to air it up to the top of the sweet spot before shooting.

If i can't wait that long to go shooting, then i need to grab a springer.

Mac 1 just did a post on orings being extruded in some of the guns he repairs because of stroage at high press.

I would hate to ruin a new rifle because I didn't know any better

no ill effects thus far. Since December though it's had a Greg Davis valve stem and seal in it, which is Delrin, and harder than factory stock....prior to Greg's being inside of it, I was in it on a fairly regular basis, and noticed no extrusion of the O-rings whatsoever. So I would say you're pretty safe storing it charged.

no ill effects. Since December, it does have a Greg Davis Valve stem and seal in it, which is a harder, Delrin seal. But, prior to Greg's being inside of it, I was in it on a fairly regular basis, with no evidence of extruded O-rings whatsoever, so I would say you're safe to store them filled. Some folks don't realize it, but the same valve/stem from the 13xx pistols is used in the Mrod...or at least that's my impression from comparing them side-by-side, as well as the opinion of a very well respected tuner....

Keeping this in mind, the valve seals take a beating with filling to 3000psi. They are softer than Delrin, and hopefully Crosman will take note (they do read the forums...lol) and upgrade to a delrin seal...I think that would answer many of their leaking woe's.

According to your owner's manual..."Store the airgun charged with air or CO2 to keep the valves closed against dirt".
