I have a BSA 8-32 X 50mm. The scope functions great. It has a rubberized finish. The finish is sticky. I have tired to clean it with Pledge, WD-40, mild paint thinner, and soap & water. How can I clean / fix it. It looks and feels nasty.

I think it affected a couple of different brands; perhaps they were being coated by the same process or made in the same plant. In any case, the solution was to peel the rubber off completely. Didn't sound terribly easy, but more than one person reported success.

Best of luck!

Thank you to all who responded. I removed the rubberized coating with acetone. The scope looks great and works great.
