It reminded me of when Yahoo went public and a co-worker and I figured up the stock price to asset ratio - it wasn't even pennies to dollars. Facebook has got to be much thinner. So long as everyone believes, baby, it'll be OK. So long as everyone believes.

"I can't believe I wasted so much time on that."
I'm not saying social networking will die, it will just change so much so that Facebook may be irrelevant. There's certainly no money in it. The folks who use it the most aren't really the type to opt into ads. As soon as they make you watch an ad, which they almost ceratinly will have to with the current user profile, that's when folks will leave in droves.

They have simply turned people into cattle.

Users believe they are FaceBook customers....they arent'. They are FB product.

FB makes money how, exactly? Selling advertisement space. Why do advertisers want to use FB space? Because YOU are there.

Advertisers will continue to push for more intrusive adverts. Soon, when you click that X to close the ad it will take you to another site instead of just closing.

They will collect more information on your web activity (do you really think it is just a coincidence that adverts for cars pop up just after you were shopping for a car on-line?).

That collected data will also be made available to the US government, the headhunter agency used by the company you just interviewed at, and the lawyers working for your ex-wife.)

FB produces no product. FB provides no new service. FB is simply a spiderweb catching flies and selling the bodies to the highest bidders. The sheeple using FB are too shallow to realize they are being farmed, receiving no real assets, have no real protection.

"ITS PEOPLE! YOU'RE EATING PEOPLE! SOYLENT GREEN IS PEEEEEEEEOPLE!!!!!" Bang!

You are partially correct.... FB does target some ads to the FB user.

And no bunsiness worth its salt would _volunterily_ give the Gubment access to all of its usre info without a subpeona.

Sheep, not sheep, dudnt matter,,,, My wife made $2000 last week on facebook, and use it yesterday to close a $3600 deal.

Just becuase your too close minded and paranoid to use and enjoy it for what it is: a way to communicate (what you communicate is up to you...) doenst give you the right to spew your paranoid conspiracies on the rest of us

Now put your tin foil back on and go sit under the stairs

You are product. Your wife is product. If you found a way to do side business on FB, great. But...you both have already been sold for much more than you could ever make on FB. You are sold every time you log in.

Do you get the "You have notifications pending" e-mails? They just want you to click through so they can get paid.

I set up dummy accounts on FB, Twitter, Pinterest and others. Just to keep tabs on these systems. I don't interact on any of them. Just have the accounts set up with alias e-mail addresses entered in the registration forms. FB sends the alias e-mail 5 emails per month. Topic is either "Your friends miss you", "See what you have missed" or "You have notifications pending". Which is weird because I have not "friended" anyone and the notifications don't pertain to me at all.

I wouldn't put your actual business profits in print in this medium. I suggest you edit your post to be more vague. Maybe just replace the dollar values with "baaaaa baaa baaaaaaaaaa".

Four years ago I think it was I asked myself how does this company make profit? I thought about friendster and that other one.. whatever it was called... and thought to myself, this ain't near the final iteration of this. But the stupid games and the "friends" etc kind of pointed to a sort of algorithm. It does, you know. I may not be bright enough to figure the particular algorithm, but there is one. Or maybe a few.

The movie Matrix. It's kind of like that but instead of living in the matrix and having to choose the pill to actually choose reality, we enter a very rudimentary matrix on fb. We don't control it. We don't control the information on it. Everything we do in fb exhibits patterns for.. sponsors(?) of fb.
