Below are the match results from this past Saturday. We set the match up a little different in that we had a pistol course set up with the rifle course so everyone had a choice to shoot either a pistol or a rifle. It is too hot to hold a separate pistol match after the rifle match. Since we had targets set up for pistol and rifle I had a fun class and just let the people in that class shoot at whatever targets they wanted. I think the idea to set up two courses and shoot them at the same time is not a bad one but I figured out I needed more targets with bigger kill zones before I try this again. I did not run a Troyer on pistol or rifle but I figure it was past 30 for both and the scores reflected that. Congrats to Brad Vanpool for the top score of the day. Congrats to Kevin Enzian for the top pistol score. One more guy to mention is Matt Sawyer. Matt showed up and realized he forgot the bolts to put his rifle stock on so I let him use my LH Daystate CRX. He did very well with it considering he had never shot the rifle and shot it right handed. Just shows it's the guy pulling the trigger more than the rifle attached to the trigger.

Virtually no wind until toward the end of the match. Still dripping sweat under the canopy waiting for match to begin.

Guess if it is too hot in afternoon for pistol match, providing a choice during rifle is an acceptable option. At least it was for four of us. Also provided a challenge with a couple of incorrectly placed targets. Resulted in a couple of >60 troyers.

Fun nevertheless. Thanks Craig!

I didn't do too good at the shooting part but the eats and fellowship made up for it.
Craig and the PP crew did a great job.

I posted this and noticed I did not say much about the heat and humidity. It was oppressively hot and humid. No wind. One of those TX summer days when you just sit and sweat. It was miserable. We suffered thru it and no doubt it took a toll on pure enjoyment. Cooler days ahead and I am ready for them. I am glad our next match is not until September. Still hot in TXbut typically not like this past Saturday.

It was definitely a hot day. Very good turn out and nice course setup. You just had to pay attention to the flags as to which target to shoot. Hopefully the pistol guys had a good time. Thanks to all that put in the work to make this a great match. And the great hotdogs are always nice to finish with.

Normally, we hope for the perpetual TX breeze to lay down. On this day, we longed for any breeze at all.

Fun match for everyone. It was not difficult to tell the pistol targets from the rifle targets, and I didn't hear of anyone shooting the wrong target by mistake. So I guess even we Texans are trainable.

Too bad I had no holdover data/practice for shooting 1" pistol KZs beyond 35yds (well off the chart of AAFTA Pistol Troyers.) Reminded me of that 42yd pistol target at the Michigan Nats last fall that had to be awarded to all shooters since it was an illegal target. If it can happen at a National match, I'm sure it can be forgiven for a monthly local competition.
