Paintball guppy to PCP use...HELP

What am I doing wrong? I've got two guppy setups with
Joe Brancato's valves. Work fantastic. Came upon a couple
more guppy paintball tanks that I wanted to use to fill
a PCP. Bought the top cap with a inline hose bleeder. Screws on
blows air hook it to a probe and try to charge the gun, nothing.

Thought it might have something to do with the regulated top so I put a
valve top in that didn't have it.

Blows air out of the probe great. Put it in a low filled gun and it won't fill it.
Guppy is over 4,000 psi. Gun at one bar. Switched to the Joe Brancato set up and
it fills great. Confused as to why it doesn't work.

If 1 bar then something is wrong. If 100 bar then the regulator is likely for paintball use and set at 800-900psi. So since 900psi is less then 100bar no air is going into the gun.

If you have it all hooked up and turn the on/off vale to "on" (clockwise), does the hose fill? or are you able to just disconnect the hose without bleeding?

The gun is was at one bar. The tank valve blows HARD.
When the line is bled air comes out. Your idea on the
regulated 800-900 makes sense. I'll try it later with
even less in the gun to start with. Off to pickleball.

One bar is empty! Personally, I've never seen a gauge that I could read 1 bar on. If you're actually at 100 bar, and the paintball guppy is regulated to 850 psi (57 bar), you'll never get a fill. You would need either a totally unregulated, or 200 bar regulated valve for the paintball tank.

I use it to check the air pressure in soccer balls before a match. Most of those recommend a pressure of approx .75bar, or approx 10-11psi.

Sounds like he is at 100 bar.

Since he is getting a release of air when he bleeds it means the tank is filling the hose, but not opening the foster to fill the gun.

edit - My guess is that the gauge has "1", "2" and "3" on it but then at the bottom is really small letters it has "x100". Just like the Benjamin gauges (except psi and x1000)

Okay, so I shot the Leshiy down to this,



Tried to fill it with no luck.

Shot it down to this...



Then tried it again on the fill. It brought it up to this.



So I think your theory on the regulated valve makes sense.

The question now is can the regulation be removed? I'm going
to google it. I'll check to see if they have a non regulated
valve available as well. I just figured the short one would not
be.

I take those 850psi regulators and bump them up to about 2800. Not too hard to do with a stack of belleville washers. Just takes some trial and error till you get the stack right. You can also "override" the regulator completely by making a solid spacer to replace the washer/spring stack.
I've never done this as those ASA on/off valve seem a bit hard to control. Did not want 4500 psi in my guns.

Worth a try. My large tank fill valves are not regulated so I could
over fill just as easy with my regular fill systems. I would like to
be able to get 3000 psi fills if I could out of it.

You are right about fine control being tricky.

And you can get them right (ninja reg at least) right on 3K but it takes a bunch of different size shims. Some are thinner then paper. A .001 shim can raise output by 100psi when you get up that high.


These .047" bellevilles are the ones I use in high output regs. The .032 or .022 are too thin (even doubled). They are tough to get right on the number you want.

Found this after sniffing around some. Looks much more
heavy duty with the double top rings and hardened steel
base. I don't think I'm going to modify the low pressure
valve. "Safety never takes a holiday" is the running joke
when it comes to this stuff.
