Do most agree with the idea that Ray Appelles had about doing away with scope restrictions in Hunter Class, then allowing Hunter Class shooters to compete head to head within the PCP and Piston Classes respectively and then exploring the possibility of a new entry level class with rules TBD?

If they just added a springer class to the existing hunter class and stop screwing with the scope rules I could live with HFT the way it is. Of course I would like to see them policeing the rules also!

is one of the basic elements of Hunter class. Please quit fooling with the rules.

It's fun and challenging to shoot at 12X and gives the owners of guns like the Marauder some chance against the top guns like the FX Royal, Daystates and shortly the USFTs.

I think creating more classes is a bad idea since it's hard to fill all three basic classes now available. Why not just award a "Best in Show" for the best score, rather than trying to mix the rules from the three classes?

I think that the Hunter rules can be improved by deleting the ambiguous areas and putting in rules that you can quantify.

For example: 1) Set actual lengths from the barrel centerline for Butt Plate, Chin Rest and knee or hand rest. 2) Put a weight limit on bipod / sticks + scope + gun. This is to prevent portable bench rests from entering the game. 3) Delete "Sporter" from the rules. It is argumentative, it means nothing in the AG context, is not enforced and just annoys those shooting cheap as well as expensive guns.

not that it matters but I don't agree

Not sure where the more classes would come from. I think it would only require a more open style for open division. WFTF division would remain the same and hunter could be defined in ways such as those you have suggested. The 12X limit could stay in hunter if that is what most want, the high mag scopes with bipods etc would be in open, not hunter.

In reading your post, I think you have more in common with Ray's proposal than you think.

but if you feel strongly about those changes, by all means, send your proposal in!

that never should have been allowed in the first place! Leave hft rules like they are and simply add a piston class!

before we submit anything to the BOG. That as some have said earlier is where we need to be looking. Also this should be decided by those affected? But you know all this is mostly fixed if you separate spring guys away and give then a class like the other divisions have for piston shooters. Also give them faceplate hits at minimum...

It is what it is, because it is!!!

Rays proposal may just be next years evolution of our sport. It would accomadate more particiaption with a wider age of shooters being able to be competetive.

In the meantime,
I like the idea of limiting Hunter Class to a 2lb trigger weight minimum and scopes of only 12x capability or less. I think that it would be more condusive to the "spirit of its purpose" Seperating pcp and piston would be appropriate as well.

Some additional thoughts;
Perhaps it would be worthwhile for some HFT shooters put high mag scopes on their guns and see how it compares at the local level so we have some real time trial and error before making any changes there.
