Need help... looking for scope mounts for a Browning Grade 1 .22 semi
I know squat about firearms and my guess is that this rifle doesn't have an integrated scope rail?
I appreciate teh help.
Sick 'em Hoff!!!
These are take down guns that come apart at the barrel/receiver junction. Scope mounts attach to the barrel and extend back over the receiver; the barrels are already drilled and tapped to accept them.
The weaver mount that Kevin recommended is kind of short and will not extend all the way over the receiver. On one hand, it will accept either tip off scope rings or Weaver type rings. On the other hand, its short length may limit scope choices.
There is a Browning mount that only accepts tip off rings but extends much further back over the receiver. I dunno if they are still available new. A used one could probably be found on eBay.
On my Browning copy, I used the Weaver base for years, mounted backwards, with a very small pistol scope mounted. This allowed me to carry the gun by grabbing it around its tiny receiver, and made for a handy quick to fire outfit. I'll use my Browning mount if mounting a scope in the conventional position.
