Hello fellow airgunners!I recently purchased a second hand HW97 in .20 cal,the rifle was shooting a bit low so I sent it out to be it professionally serviced(will not mention names).I got the gun back and it`s still shooting low, service provided was a new main spring and lube, everything else checked out ok. I`m getting 700 fps out of 12.81 grain Beeman Crow Magnum pellets, what I do understand is that earlier HW97S` were not as powerful as current models. The question I have is this, does anyone here know how to read the serial numbers to determine manufacture date of my gun and also if some of you guys can share the ft/lbs info of yours,I`m currently at 14ft/lbs with mine. Thanks for all of your help!!

Try the Weihrauch Database. Put your serial number in and it will give you the approximate date of manufacture.

My R9 .20 cal gets 749 FPS avg. (13 FPE) using JSB 11 gr and 672 FPS using JSB 13.4 gr. (15 FPE)..

Check here for pellets tests on your HW97...

trajectory compared to my other .177 R9. Untuned from the box, with the .20 R9 I got 650fps with 14.3 grain Crosman Premiers and 755fps with 11.47 grain Beeman FTS pellets for about 13.5fps (CPs) and about 14.5fps (FTS) which is similar to your new .20 HW97.

...but not so much in fast shooting PCP's, at least I've not gotten great accuracy when pushing them to +900fps. That would be pretty "hot" for a springer, and in that springer platform (or a well down tuned PCP).... might be the reat'sazz in a 97.
