I was thinking the price of the inverter would kill the idea but who knows..the venting and condesation i have all figured out.

If you are serious, I recommend getting a kill-a-watt meter for the intended unit http://www.amazon.com/P3-International- ... B000RGF29Q) and measure the current draw and power factor. The surge power (or start-up current draw) will be the deciding factor on size of the inverter. The meter will show how much power is used both in normal running and for start-up. FWIW, a 2kW inverter generator will run a 5k BTU window AC. Some marine AC's have power factor correction circuitry for running a higher capacity AC with a smaller (inverter type) generator.

If this is for a vehicle with a standard alternator - you should check the output of the alternator. Or... maybe this yahoo answer article will help: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index ... 356AA3k9Mg

Hey Rob some of the truck aftermarket specialists have small air conditioning units that can be installed inside the vehicle for cars and trucks that never had them, might be worth checking out! All the best, Neil.

Rob I used to restore Antique and Classic cars, I quit many years ago to look after my father in law, but might still have some of my catalogs around, I do still have a few contacts I could call and see if they have anything available. Just let me know if you can't figure something out, all the best, Neil.

There are 72 guys at work wanting to buy them from me.but id have to make them for it to be lucrative and plausible..they know kits exist for 1000 plus.i was trying to figure the cheapest way to do it( small window ac and inverter) but that wont work.
