Then I ran across this, Davenport Iowa, at the Alcoa plant facilities. The employees put up
an "Eagle Cam". Pretty cool.

about one mile from the Mississippi river as a crow flies . Bald Eagles , Osprey and other birds at the top of the foodchain such as Kingfishers are rising in numbers due in part to the banning of chemicals and pesticides such as DDT and others .

and that wasn't 100 years ago, a bald eagle had made its way to chicago and went to snatch a guy's bulldog as he was walking it. actually lifted the dog off the pavement. owner managed to fend it off.
it wasn't a real resident bird and only a visitor. seem to recall the story had a pic of the eagle lifting the dog.

They have been there for two years now, about 250 yars off the road. Drove by the other day and saw the two of them pearched up high in the nest, a very majestic sight.
