seems to right in the controllable smooth power range even with the questionable compression tube finish will have to wait and see what it does with time

This was the Black Vortek Seal The softer seal may be a plus with a less than perfect tube

Since you have the 54 I guess you can't see much difference in the recoil?

I bet its alot quieter, no more twang!

Wow your compression tub does not look good at all...

I hope my Vortek pg2 comes in the mail soon! so I can finish the compare to the GSI. Did chrony my m48 with cps. Was 925-934... so down 50 fps.. Crow magnums were worst.. 850 average now instead of 930 like it used to be. the spread was larger also 839-868 more shots on the lower side brought the average down... That's pretty slow in my books so the old GSI spring is definitely had better days.

Good numbers but what the heck happened to the compression tube? Mine on my 48 doesn't look like that.

factory quality is not what they used to be I guess....maybe thats why UMAREX voids warranty if the customer opens a rifle up? Would you want customers finding stuff like that and still having a warranty if you sold them??

have a good machinist friend. Without a machinist friend its going to cost a bunch!

Hone it might help but then the comprehension tube will be oversize and require a different piston seal. Not to mention the piston would have to be buttoned

It looks to me like the drill used to boar out the compression was either sharpened wrong or extremely dull. Normally after drilling you would use a reamer to size the hole and give a better finish.. then hone to the perfect size. Could also be done with a baring bar.. that takes more skill and time but easily doable. If I only had the equipment....

He could just run with the new seal and see how long it lasts... but if I spent about $600 on a d54 and got that I would be very upset!

my last UMAREX interaction did not turn out very good. I am almost sure they would not replace it because I opened it up....CATCH 22 you opened it voided warranty, and wouldn't know it if you didn't open it LOL
