I like it in .177 but the biggest complaint about this gun and other underlevers is loading the pellets. .22 may help in that regard as they are bigger. .177 has a flatter trajectory but I don't see that as a big issue at these distances.

I like it better in .177 as well but i think it`s just personel preference. whatever trips your trigger.

like lon says, it's the preference. i have it in .22 cal and it's been great. the most accurate airgun i have so far. i barely touch my break barrels anymore. i'm in the process of saving some money for the cfx in .177 cal. or another fixed barrel.

and say "Hey", I've been working more than I care to lately. I hope to get in some free time soon, 2-3 weeks maybe.

I have 3 projects on the short list, rebuilding my CFX is one of them. Got a bunch of "Rich from Mich" bling for it.

if you just target shooting and limited to tiny game the .177 is a nice day in and day out gun. I just shot a jack with a Gamo Shadow 1000 in .22 and I hit him in the spine and was surprised how it just anchored the Jack. Busted his spine and the rear legs went out on him. I don't think a .177 would have anchored him like the .22 did.

I have tried firing a CFX in .22 and it shot noticably lower at 30yds than .177 and only gives about a ft-lb more energy based on other people chrony numbers which makes it not much more effective for hunting. I can place my shots where they need to go and .177 doesn't make animals rabbit size and smaller any less dead than .22 while at the same time being less messy with birds and rats.

An airgun has to have at least the power of an RWS 48 before I personally consider .22, so that proper weight pellets for the caliber will go around 800FPS or more, which is a speed I am comfortable with out to ~50yds and in the RWS 48 you can gain around 3FPE with .22 over .177 (avg. max 21-22FPE in .22 vs 18-19FPE in .177).
