Gamousa.com says that the cocking effort on the Shadow Sport is 30 lbs while the effort on the Varmint Hunter is 38 lbs... I thought they were the same gun with just different sights... Does the Varmint Hunter have a stronger spring in it?

the Shadow Sport is a different rifle than the Varmit Hunter.
One is the New style and one the old.

If you look at the new Shadows the front of the compression tube also comes out with a cross pin just like the rear plug.

with a big "O" ring.

Take out both the plugs on either end and you can hone straight through.

Sure is great for honing the combustion chamber, I did the Nitro 17 at a place that rebuilds Hyd. cylinders.

It is Perfectly round !! (now)
