Despite oppressive heat, the June 24 Yegua Airgun Club FT matches were well attended. Eleven hearty shooters contested the 42 shot rifle match, eight of which braved (further) heat exhaustion to shoot the pistol event (also 42 shots).
Carlos Garza scorched the rifle course, his score of 41/42 not only capturing the Hunter Division honors, but carrying the day. Ron Robinsons 39/42 was good enough for second in the Hunter field of six. New shooters Mike Flores and Jason Jones recorded impressive Hunter scores of 30/42 and 29/42 in their first FT outings, both with borrowed equipment.
Mike Vredenburg edged out Phil Reedy in PCP Division, his 40/42 one point better than Phils effort. Leo Durans fine 38/42 carried the WFTF Piston Division... and probably would have even if he'd had competition!
In the pistol FT match, Mike Vredenburgs Open Division score of 40/42 proved high score of the day, bettering Ron Robinsons high Hunter Division score of 39/42. Sam Ramirez posted a fine 38/42, unfortunately your reporter doesnt know in which division he shot!
Per our usual habit, the scorched survivors capped the FT melt-down with just what youd expect from a buncha loco Tejanos... a Tex-Mex chow-down!
