I'm all for them. I had a 2 fps hi lo spread in 5 shots, then 4 fps in 10 shots with SD of 1. At 15 it was 8 fps and at 20 shots 10 fps spread with SD of 2. My new to me MarkI TX is shooting JSB Exacts at 820 fps avg with a new tighter fitting seal. The old seal was very hard like a rock and had a spread of 30 fps and an avg. of 849 fps and a SD of 6. The new seal lost a little speed, but man is the gun steady now. If I weighed and Bic pen sorted my pellets I'm sure I could keep a 20 shot string under 5 fps ES.

USUALLY, SD will be 1/3 of the ES in a Gaussian distribution.

That your ES at 20 shots is 10, but your SD is 2 means that you have a few "outliers" in the curve.

So, yes, it points to the sorting and weighing of pellets, but it also points to the settling in of the new seal, so, keep shooting!

You shooting 8.44 gr's?

If I took the highest and lowest shot out of the string it would have been at 4 fps. I'll continue to use straight from the tin because the difference is so close it shouldn't matter.
