Recently I bought a Gamo 440 and worked on a friends Remington Vantage 1200. Well, to me the Vantage appears to be a clone of the 440. Can anybody shed some light on this? Thanks and take care, Tom

Chinese rifles are clones of Gamo, RWS, and Air Arms.

A shooting buddy of mine had a 440 few years back. We took it apart, cleaned it up, de-burred it, and reinstalled all the factory parts with proper JM lubes, and it was one hell of a shooter, pushing 7.9gr CPs at around 950-960 very smoothly and consistantly. It's a long-stroke narrow-tube design, compared to current designs. When set up properly, it can be a very satisfying gun to shoot. And this was back in the day before replacement upgrade triggers were available.

Hmmm. Wonder if he still has it. Might need to make a phone call.

I think we're all Bozos on this bus.

Most of the Chinese made Crosmans are Gamo copies.
