Jerry West of Cooler Air did a fantastic job! Everything is like new, well the compressor, heat exchanger, condensor, heater core, valves, switch, and hoses are new, LOL! It would proably be more appropriate to say is mostly all new!

Can't wait to get the whole car finished and going so I can get frozen out of it in the summer!

If you would like the same, contact Jerry ( jerrywes at gmail.com ) <name not a typo, cost will be dependant on how much you want done.....

Wish mine looked that good. I sent 1 hose out to get chrome plated and it cost me $85.
Can't imagine what you spent to make all that stuff look so fine. -Bob

Try this instead. Lower the sun visors on your X and you will see some latches hidden there. Unlatch them and the roof comes completely off the car!! It's very cool. HA!!

Sorry guys... just venting() my AC envy.

Looks real nice Doug. Both of my Xs are non-AC models. I am glad my drive to and from work is 90% hwy, makes summer driving more tolerable for sure.

It's a good thing that you redid the hoses, too.

Original hoses were designed for the R12 refrigerant that came in these vehicles. As I understand it, today's refrigerant, R134, has a molecular structure that allows it to seep thru the old hoses and thereby escape.

Do we know how well the A/C units worked on Xs when they were new from the factory? If they were marginal using R12, all other equipment and components remaining equal, they will be less effective and possibly disappointing using R134. OTOH, if an original A/C system was an icicle-maker, it should be pretty good with R134.

the cost isn't for the faint of heart... the wife won't go on extended trips here in Texas without A/C so it isn't an option LOL

this system will be cold even in Texas. He is sime retired and has done A/C work for alooong time. he can talk for hours about A/C systems. Those conversations with him lead to the heat exchanger and condensor ending up being uprated much over stock. The condensor is an inch taller than stock as well as replumbed for much better flow. And, the heat exchanger is thicker as well as a new serpentine design. I am very confident I will be happy with the performance.

Ah, so this is much more than OEM components cleaned/serviced/proofed/replaced with OEM.

Sounds more like a total custom system made to fit like the orginal.

Dress warm!

... unit... and as I've never seen one before, I would think that would be an upgrade.

Jerry will probably agree that the biggest bang for the buck would be as much condensating "power" as possible...

Did you do any research in replacing the entire system with a Southern Air or Vintage Air unit? You'd haveta do some fabrication... but some small systems which should be more than adequate for the X are around 800 bucks.
