Here are some pics of removing the pedal box so that I can replace the brake and clutch masters with new.

First, the swamps:

Next, drain the swamps:

Swamp bottom:

Here it comes:

Here's a surprise---this clamp was completed corroded, it fell apart!

And I thought the brown brake fluid was nasty---the clutch fluid was blacker than old motor oil!

Some floorpan follow-up:

They can develop cracks over the years and mysteriously wisp away your fluid and pressure. And...they break rather easily. I just replaced a set on the Spider today, $6 each from IAP. The Spiders originally came with 45 degree ones but all replacements either go straight up or at 90 degrees. Something to think about....nagging brake fluid leaks are annoying.

I am about to do exactly this job tomorrow, did you take the whole pedal box out and replace MCs on bench or did you manage to do it in situ?

Regards,
Iain

All my best, BTW... its a bunch of work... but this has got to be the BEST approach... and when in doubt... USE VICE GRIPS before destroying the fittings completely.  Then may nick them, but usually they can easily be filed and re-used.

Good luck!

My best,
