Naw... that's a lie... But I do remember the car and the X'CELLENT craftsmanship...

I remember Alex Kovatch talking about those heads all the time... and I also think PBS (in SOCAL) was into the quad valve conversions too.

(Just flingin' around some thoughts... maybe it'll spur some memories...)

I remember it well. It belonged to Russ McBride in Atlanta. He bought it from Kim Baker in CT who got it new.

Russ bought the engine off ebay, it was a prototype DOHC, 1600 version of the SOHC motor. Apparantly, somebody got the motor out the back door of Fiat's engineering group in Detroit. Perhaps intending to use it for their own project and ultimately decided to sell it.

Russ sold the car a couple of years ago to an unknown buyer. I don't know where it went.

Since he didn't need the original engine I bought it from him!! its been a great engine. I've driven across the U.S many times.

Well, I hope we find this car ! Would like to see it in the hands of a true Xhead!!

Dick W bought this car from Russ and brought it out to SoCal. At least, that's who I thought bought it.

I had received permission from my wife to go after it, but it was sold by the time I decided to pull the trigger. I was a little slow becuase of mt concerns about maitaining the car with a "custom" engine set up. I can barely take car of my stock Xs.

I think Alex has a twin-cam Meara(?) engine in his garage that he plans to put into his street X someday.

Not sure if that discourages my project (seeing that Fiat made one already) or encourages me !

Since I'm not going to run a Fiat motor in my X, I'm not terribly interested in doing all of the research for you. Use the Search function at the top of the page as well as google and you might find what you're looking for.

Oddly much of this was from a year ago. My how time flies as we're all rotating around in space.
