Washington: Republican presidential contender Newt Gingrich said in a cable TV interview that Palestinians are an "invented" people with no apparent right to their own state, a rejection of a decade of bipartisan US foreign policy.
In the interview, which was taped on Wednesday in Washington and will be broadcast tomorrow on The Jewish Channel, Gingrich spoke about his mistrust of Palestinian leaders, his admiration for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his view that the Obama administration is "favouring the terrorists" with its foreign policy.

"Remember, there was no Palestine as a state. It was part of the Ottoman Empire," Gingrich said. "We have invented the Palestinian people, who are in fact Arabs and are historically part of the Arab people, and they had the chance to go many places."

"For a variety of political reasons," Gingrich continued, "we have sustained this war against Israel now since the 1940s, and I think it's tragic."

"Besides being factually and historically wrong, this statement is unwise," said Gaith Al Omari, executive director of the American Task Force on Palestine and a former adviser to Palestinian National Authority President Mahmoud Abbas.

Prado, the thread title is wrong. It should be "Republican Presidential hopeful says" etc.

Actually, if you'd been following the US news, the guys getting pretty much called out for trying to curry to the "Jewish vote" by pretty much all the other Republican candidates.

Having said that, yeah, "the Nation of Palestine" was a post-1948 development. On the other hand that fact (insert "is") at the moment has (delete "has") is a "so what?" if there is ever to be a solution to the mid-east problem.

Regards.

There you go again, Tim. Trying to be rational with the likes of Prado is a Fool's Errand.

<table cellpadding="10"><tr><td></td><td>"The chief aim of all government is to preserve the freedom of the citizen. His control over his person, his property, his movements, his business, his desires should be restrained only so far as the public welfare imperatively demands. The world is in more danger of being governed too much than too little.

It is the teaching of all history that liberty can only be preserved in small areas. Local self-government is, therefore, indispensable to liberty. A centralized and distant bureaucracy is the worst of all tyranny.

Taxation can justly be levied for no purpose other than to provide revenue for the support of the government. To tax one person, class or section to provide revenue for the benefit of another is none the less robbery because done under the form of law and called taxation."

Pakistan Airforce: The largest distributor of Indian airforce parts in Asia

Pathankot Strike
8 F-86Fs of No 19 Squadron led by Squadron Leader Sajjad Haider struck Pathankot airfield. With carefully positioned dives and selecting each individual aircraft in their protected pens for their strafing attacks, the strike elements completed a textbook operation against Pathankot. Wing Commander M G Tawab, flying one of the two Sabres as tied escorts overhead, counted 14 wrecks burning on the airfield. Among the aircraft destroyed on the ground were nearly all of the IAFs Soviet-supplied Mig-21s till then received, none of which were seen again during the War.

in the British houses of parlaiment there is a shield with the following written on it. PALESTINE the sword belonged to Richard the lionheart who led the crusaders so much for a post 1948 devlopment. You can make that argument for the jews who despite living there since ancient times barely ran the place the Italians as hiers to Rome have more claim then the jews to jerusalem only Islam and Christianity historically fought and bled for it the jews merely lived under one ruler and another.

Gingrich is right, the Palestinian were just a motley collection of Arabs. The invention of the mythic "indigenous Palestinians" as an Arab group possessing nationhood is something to attack the Jewish right to exist in the region:
http://www.meforum.org/522/the-smoking- ... -palestine

I don't really follow the news, but if there was a big backlash against Newt(who I otherwise hate for being a capitalist fat-cat appeaser), sends another sad image of just how spineless American leaders are in constantly upholding the interests of geo-politics and oil over justice, once again sacrificing a much more similar civilization to not offend the public of Islamic states. No matter what Islamic nations will always hate the USA, even all the pretend Islamic allies in recent public polls and with their recent policies have proved this fact. Thus there is no use to appease "Pallywood" or larger Arab sentiment.

Yeah people who lift their arse to a child raping mass murdering thug who pretends he brought the moon down to earth and split it, they are not idiots. They are the disciples of the 'one true faith'. I'm not going to tell you to quit it. The worst thing I can say to anyone is, 'Go and be a Muslim'. So do carry on.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
An infidel commenter on Youtube lashes out at Islamic invaders posing as innocent migrants:
Herr Sarrazin uses an inappropriate term 2 describe those Muslim persons who come 2 Europe. He refers 2 them as "immigrants" when Muslims R actually "invaders". There's no such thing as a Muslim "immigrant" - no matter where they go. Muslims R ALWAYS invaders & they R either openly or covertly destroying th nation into which they invade. We must help Muslims either leave Islam or leave 4 Saudi. Permanent hajj - "right of return" - 2 th desert. All over th world, Islam must die.

It's correct. There never was a national identity called "Palestinian", only a geographical location which included Jordan and south Lebanon. The Palestinians considered themselves either Syrians or Arabs, and even the Arab states and the UN demanded an 'arab state' in Palestine, while the word 'Palestinian' was reserved for the Zionist Jews who immigrated there (ironic, these days).

Still, it's irrelevant. Even if the nationality was manufactured for political reasons in the past, it exists now, and the Palestinians do have an identity at the moment, which gives them every right to demand national recognition. Thus, Gingritch is not only doing them an injustice by uttering this politically unacceptable speech, he is also hurting the peace process by positioning the US as a dishonest broker in Palestinian eyes. If he consideres himself a friend of Israel, he should twist our current governments arm into halting settlement construction, for our own good. Tough love is needed here. At the same time, unlike Obama, he must not ignore Palestinian rejectionism and the education of hate, which is meant to eternalize the conflict in Palestinian eyes, and prevent a compromise, something no better than the settlements themselves.

HiHiHi Funny As Hell

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A man is taking a walk in Central park in New York. Suddenly he sees a little girl being attacked by a pit bull dog. He runs over and starts fighting with the dog. He succeeds in killing the dog and saving the girl's life. A policeman who was watching the scene walks over and says: "You are a hero," tomorrow you can read it in all the newspapers: "Brave New Yorker saves the life of little girl." The man says: "But I am not a New Yorker!" "Oh, then it will say in newspapers in the morning: Brave American saves life of little girl" - the policeman answers. "But I am not an American!" - says the man. "Oh, what are you then?" The man says: "I am a Saudi!" Then next day the newspapers say: "Islamic extremist kills innocent American dog."
