Ordered already in 2014, but like with all FMS purchases it is a couple of days ago formalized by the US military. The combined order (lot31) includes also orders from South Korea, Morocco Japan, Romania, Spain, Indonesia, Qatar and Bahrain

Greece received last AIM120C-7 from her order in 2014 I think.

I am surprised Turks took so long. Turkey had far less AIM-120 per F-16 than Greece. I guess this will change now....

Those weapons are only for US aircrafts that dont accept other missiles , Turkey never will buy weapons frm US anymore , everything will be Made in Turkey (I think 90 f16 dont accept foreingh weapons right?)

"145 AIM120C-7 AMRAAM "

Isn't that a... ridiculously low order size for 100+ F-16? We want to order 150 for 48 F-16...

Though AIM-120D is much better than C versions. Much longer range.

Turkey will surely still order a lot of US missiles, we have to. We will order AIM120-D's for our F35's for instance.

For the F16's we will slowly switch to Turkish air to air missile from 2020 on.

Even if they are slightly worse it will help us tremendously.

Just like the JDAM guidance kit that the US sold us for $120K and lowered the price to $20k after we build our own HGK kit (JDAM equivalent).

But Greece without alternatives will have to pay the screw price.

Turkey doesn't need BVR missiles against Greece (not yet) and Greece doesn't need them against Turkey since we both fly American fighters.

Change will be with the TFx.

We have 300 MICA EM and IR, the last ones are very dangerous, since when approach is silent and deadly without a warning

that pic from op is an aim-120c5.

the longer range on aim-120d compared to c7 is not important to the f-35 since both have a range
beyond detection range of the f-35 and the aim-120d wont be carried by the f-35 until block4... the
aim-120c7 does have h.o.b.s capability close to the aim-120d.

now 4th gen fighters who fly with aim-120d (like the f-18e and aesa f-15e's) will have a huge range advantage
over 4th gen fighters who carry the aim-120c7 by at least 50%.

Plus after Greece's F-16 upgrade to Viper the planes will be capable to carry MICA BVR missiles like the Block 60.

It's exist a possibility that current Greek F-16 52ADV already have this option. Otherwise would be strange only 25 Mirage 2000-5 mk2 to carry 300 BVR missiles.
