Mount Rainier has beaten Bigfoot as one of three finalists for the official Washington State Quarter.

The three designs, picked by the state’s Quarter Advisory Commission, include a salmon, Mount Rainier and an apple within an outline of the state; a salmon breaching the water with Mount Rainier as a backdrop; and a Northwest Native American orca.

While these are perfectly amusing fark had an amusing asortment of other possibilties

NH picked the Old Man of the Mountains - and he died! Let's hope this isn't an omen of a Rainier eruption!

Article describes how the quarters with an extra leaf on the corn escaped detection. The WI coin includes a cow head. The WA coin has a salmon jumping its way to the summit of Rainier.
