The London Observer has a profile of rock climbing star Leo Houlding.
At 20 years old, Houlding is already a legend in mountain towns around the globe for his outrageous talent and full-on lifestyle. He is on a never-ending adventure tour, drifting from the colossal granite walls of El Capitan in California's Yosemite Valley through remote mountain ranges in Chile to full-moon parties on the Thai island of Ko Pha Ngan.
Most recently he's been climbing near Barcelona with a male model who works for Gucci and a friend from America who was kidnapped last year by Islamic extremists in Kyrgyzstan. Houlding, who hadn't been rock climbing for three months, was quickly back to the top standards, infuriating those who believe that early nights and a rigorous training programme are the key to success.
In fact, Houlding stretches the boundaries of the word 'athlete' in all kinds of ways. In Barcelona for example, he and his friends opted to spend their spare time peering down at the city from the top of construction cranes. And, unlike the boys from S Club 7, Leo isn't in a hurry to apologise for his cannabis use.
'Everybody knows, so that's not even an issue,' he says. 'And they'll legalise it soon. It doesn't bother me. Everybody smokes pot anyway.'
