I can think of two other HPs that have some sort of race up them. Brasstown Bald has a run, and Mt. Elbert has a snowshoe race. Likely there are other formal events up highpoints.

I think Mount Washington has a bicycle race to the summit (or at least very near to the summit).

Not that it's an official part of the race, but what about the hard-core runners who do the Badwater 100 (from Death Valley to Whitney Portal) and then keep going all the way to the summit? That takes them from the lowest point to the highest point in the conterminous 48 states in one stretch.

Way beyond my ability or desire...backpacking from the Portal to Trail Camp and then dayhiking the summit of Whitney from there is more my speed...

Yes, Mount Washington does have an annual bike race. Tyler Hamilton actually won it a couple of years ago.

Also, the Tour de Gerogia has a stage race that culminates on top of Brasstown Bald. I visited a couple of years ago the day after the race came through and all the writing was still on the pavement. Kinda neat.

Once the weather clears, will the Blue Ridge Parkway be open north of Mitchell??? There was a closed section (along with another section north of that) last summer.

There are several races up Greylock:

and a Mt. Washington Road Race:
