Hello everyone long time no post.
I have recently received a NEJE DK-8-KZ 1000mW that I ordered from ebay.

below are some of the resin shields I have managed to engrave (I had a desk fan and a open window to make sure the [Warning No Swearing] didn't kill me)

Sorry for the image size I've forgotten whats allowed.

Awesome, simply awesome work  two quick questions.

What are you planning on using them on assault terminators or power armour?

Any chance of some more close up shots of the others?

The Blank shields are from Anvil Industry.co.uk they are for power armour. The kill team picture below from Anvil Industrys site has an example of how they look on a marine.

Below are the close ups of the engraved shields I've done.

Cool I really like the labyrinthine design behind the chapter symbol (minotaurs unless i miss my guess) but the Celtic knot work one's excellent as well

Might have too look into treating myself to a laser engraver some day

The Celtic knot is the symbol of Rassilon from Dr Who. I got the engraver for about £60 but the wait for delivery was tedious.

GW did a wonderful job with this 30k Chaplain. It's so versatile. Here, i'm using him as a counts-as Captain Sicarius. All that was needed was another CCW.
Your version also has a lot of style. And the shields are really awesome.

Any chance you could stick a picture up? I wouldn't mind seeing your Captain Sicarius.

There's one of fireball's captain Sicarius in my xiiith company topic (7th post down) although if he's done some more work on him I'd also like to see it :D

On a side note do you think the laser engraver could handle doing some medium size panels of grey knights / death watch style inlaid text? (the bits on the shoulder pads of the gk and deathwatch and on the legs of the gk)

I'd love to add some to various vehicles (land raiders, storm ravens and sicarans oh my)

PS That Minotaur b@c chaplain conversion rocks

I've not had much success with GK style inlay, I've got some one 3d printing me a ABS shield to experiment on its just a matter of finding the right material or getting a better laser (not in my budget at the moment).

oh I should also say that the laser wont work on standard GW plastics it melts rather than vaporises.

That's pretty awesome. Are those shields curved or flat? I would have expected the depth of the engraving to not be standard if the surface in curved, but your image looks like a curved shield with a consistent depth inlay.

The shields are slightly curved I think the engraving is variable but its not noticeable to the human eye. Due to the simplicity of the laser engraver it doesn't do 256 greyscale just black and white (on / off)

Cool. I suppose it would have to be a pretty serious curve before you would notice the difference in depth of the engraving.

You might be seeing some of the pictures above on the Anvil Industry website in their conversion corner some time in the [Warning No Swearing].

Well I've started to engrave the 30 shields it takes about 20 minutes per shield so it’s going to be about 10 hours to get them done sorry no pics yet. The spears haven’t arrived yet but it’s only been a few days so I’m allowing for customs and post problems.

As for the prototype paint job I’ve only been able to work on the cape a bit, I’ve added some more red to the model in the knee pads to break up the solid bronze armour a bit. Again sorry no pictures yet.

I’m currently open for ideas on how to do some scouts for the Minotaurs the standard models don’t seem to fit in the Spartan style so I’m open to ideas?

Any comments or constructive critique is welcome.

Firstly I love how the shield looks painted up and that cloak looks great in that red.

Secondly I think it's a combination of the spear hand's position and the angle of the head on the new guy.

Maybe just shave a little bit off the upper edge of the inside of the wrist to tweak the spears placement and rotate the head so he's looking over the shield.

Can't wait to see a [Warning No Swearing] unit lined up though

Come on treadhead you know the saying photos or it didn't happen ;)

But back on topic I've been in contact with Conversion World and they are producing a new spartan style helmets.

I'm planning on replacing the Anvil Studios non-plume helmets with Conversion World non-plume helmets.

Conversion World are also producing some other very nice parts I highly recommend them for their customer service as well.

Just looking at the latest pics it bothers me that the shield and the shoulder pad both have the chapter logo so I think I might do some shields with just an alpha symbol or just the maze itself.

I think I might need to work out some capes as well they sorta finish the model. Might try some Wonderflex if I can do something about the grainy texture.

Got 5 days off coming so I should be more active.

comment suggestions ideas are all welcome.
