It took me 6 tries to complete this mission due to game crashes. I'll share how I completed it, both from a strategy perspective, and from a the perspective of avoiding crashes. I share my tactics from my final playthrough, as that was the one I used to beat the mission (even though an earlier playthrough I made it 99% completed).

I started with 3 Cauldron Borns, with Nuke, Venom and Meat in them. These pilots were already in the Deployment Team after finishing mission 1. I left them there, as I noticed that removing them made them unavailable for the mission.

Yes, this put me 60 tons under the mission drop weight, but since I only had 6 additional pilots for this mission, I opted to bring in the heavier salvage that I knew awaited me in the mission. I suggest sticking with jump capable mechs, as the terrain is quite hilly.

First Off - DO NOT USE QUICK SAVE OR QUICK LOAD during this mission. Wolfman apparently created this map so that it is pushing the limits of what the MC2 game engine is capable of, and the game simply doesn't have resources to quick save or quick load. If you use these features you are almost certain to crash the game.

My first priority in the mission was to salvage the Bloodkite mech that I found hidden in some trees in the northern part of the map. I fought any mechs that I encountered along the way (only two Blackjack mechs, if I recall correctly), and managed to complete a couple of mission objectives on the way.

Once I had the Bloodkite (awesome mech, by the way) I moved just east of the tin shack that is near a small base with a repair bay, gate control and some resource buildings. There I waited for a message that some hunters had been dispatch. !!CAREFUL!! I found that the game was VERY prone to crashing while the hunters were on their way to me. JUST REMAIN OUT IN THE OPEN, and let them come to you. It helps to destroy some of the thick trees to give your team better line of sight. As soon as you hear sensor contacts pause and scan the area. Focus fire on the hunters as soon as they are in sight, and immediately destroy them. 4 of them will come, and it seems like they are scripted to come roughly 10 minutes into the mission. Once they are all dead the mission should be much less prone to crashing.

That said, make sure to keep your mech team together at all times, as having different mechs running around different parts of the map seems to overwhelm the game engine and resulted in a crash for me once when I only had 2 mechs left to destroy before winning the mission.

After the hunters were destroyed, I took over the base to the west. There are 5 Dragon mechs in their, but they were pretty easy to kite out 1 or 2 at a time. Once you have the base, pick up the resources, the gate control, and repair your mechs. You should also grab the sensor control that is just to the north of your position.

From this point the mission is fairly straight forward. I would suggest salvaging the Guardian mech when you find it for its advanced sensors. It really hopes in locating all enemies on the map. Also, there are two mech hangers in the south east of the map with some good salvage opportunities.

From this point just take it slow and be careful, as you can't quick save. Keep your mech team together and take out the remaining mission objectives as you see fit. Also, beware of elementars and do not underestimate them. They don't show up on sensors, and in spite of their small size, in large numbers they can easily overwhelm large mechs. There are 2 or 3 areas where they lay in ambush. So never send a mech off by itself to capture stuff. You've been warned!

I ended the mission with some VERY nice salvaged mechs, including the Bloodkite, Guardian, MadCat MKII, Fafnir, Warhammer IIC, and a Dire Wolf B. I had additional resource points available, but for this mission you have only a team of 6 Mercenary pilots available, so at this point I had no more pilots for additional mech salvage.

If you play it right, are careful, and can be patient with a few crashes, you can get through this mission and perhaps even have some fun with it.

Completed the mission, thanks God I've read the quicksave issue on the forum, I was getting mad ad it.

Warning: major spoiler ahead, but I think it's fair to talk about it, given the quicksave/load issue which can be a showstopper for many players.

Standing in the open and together stands true the whole mission, jumping around put you at risk of pathing->crash problem from Hunters and Elementars.

There is a far better route to complete the mission in an easier way than Marceror, that actually let me complete at Veteran level with not too much hassle.

Instead of going west to salvage the bloodkite, go north at the bunker area; fire at the woods to kill elementars from afar, kill the two wandering mech, capture the bunker; at this point you'll get attacked by a Guardian mech.

If you manage to headshot him (this can be tricky if you use the pilot trick mentioned by Marceror at mission 1, wich I strongly suggest to maximize mech salvaging), you've virtually ended the mission thanks to its sensors capability and the hunter's dispatching tactic that follows.

You should have 3-4 mins left at this point before hunters arrival; just behind the bunker there is a basin filled with forest, with a narrow and *dead end* canyon with a repair bay on the east.
Clear the forest, repair the mechs, and then wait for the hunters at the pass leading to the repair bay, facing west, with your lance instructed to fire standing still.

This place is awesome to wait for hunters, since your back is covered from alla sides except the NW entrance to the basin.
Now, thanks to the Guardian sensors, you'll hear a "beep" of an approaching hunter the very istant you can spot him entering the basin, when they're far away enough to get smashed before they can use the HF disintegrators at short range.

After killing them, the mission is easy given you avoid running in a group of elementar from behind a corner -> stay in the open and alert in proximity of building structures away from the base.
After that I cleared the map counterclockwise, as Marceror did, with almost no effort.

Nice mission overall, a pity for the quicksave thingy.

Ofcourse I meant "south" to the bunker, relatively to the starting position.

...of course I meant "west" and "SE"... forgot I played all the mission facing south :)
