This is from the Canadian championship, but it has nothing to do with where it happened. The fact is, it happens in the entire world sport of Soccer.

That was quite a shot. Glad Davidson was able to recover and play on.

I mean, nobody is this bad, but it still goes on despite people being very aware of it.

Soccer players (or football as we should call it) have never really claimed to be tough. Hockey players, on the other hand, claim to be tough, but never show it anymore.

The sad reality is that both sports are in the same category as far as diving goes.

Just speaking to soccer, not hockey which is completely different for many reasons. So don't call me a hypocrite because I don't condone diving in hockey. And I don't expect non soccer fans to get this, but here goes...

Its not really embellishing if something actually happened. ie he was wacked in the face.

Its more like drawing attention to the fact.

Its not as obvious to the ref like hockey where they have two refs in a small space with six guys a side to watch. Obviously the ref in soccer has alot more to look at, therefore things need to be brought to their attention sometimes. Otherwise it becomes a gong show and things get out of hand with injuriers etc.

Striking someone in the face is an auto red card, slap or punch. Any contact.

Is because the game of hockey is played at a much faster pace. You're right, hockey fans have no room to talk about soccer, at all.
