I would choose Andrew Hodd. He never complains when asked to step aside, yet he is one of the best keepers out there. How many would be able to stand up to patto?

True he has not scored his fair share of runs this season, but the ones he has scored have usually been at vital times, and besides who has scored their fair share of runs this season?

Silverwood?

Billy Root?

Katharine Brunt?

Richard Kettlebrough

All have made me proud to follow Yorkshire cricket more than the men's first team sadly with one possible exception.

If Ben Coad doesn't win by a landslide then my a**e is a banjo as an elderly relative once said

I think this is the shortest shortlist we've ever had for this- and I'd even question Handscomb's inclusion! Says all you need to know about our season I'm afraid...

Coad by a mile.

Alex, what DID Handscomb do (to be in the shortlist)?

Adam for me. Worked very hard when not in form. Gary is marvellous (and deserves another England chance) and Ben has been a revelation but grit deserves recognition.

Coad by the proverbial country mile. Honourable mention to the pre-England call up Ballance.

Lyth is an interesting suggestion: some brilliant innings in the T20 (the ton vs Northants easily my moment of the season) but his Championship average of 25 dis-counts him for me...
