We are very reliant on other results now so I will be supporting teams I wouldn't normally touch with barge pole in the hope we can struggle through.

No hardship today,

Worcs v Notts = One has qualified and the other can't

Durham v Birmingham bears = Durham win would keep bears behind us, same points and same number of games played

We will all be kept waiting by Derbyshire who are playing a 3 day day/nighter against the WI so have fallen behind with fixtures.

There's actually only one of their players in the WI game who played in the last T20 so they are all having a nice rest.
"We overtake Northants if we beat them and they lose on Friday"

Only they play Durham on Friday so not much chance of that. Losing to Durham was criminal and will most likely prove very costly indeed since our rivals are all beating them easily.

If derby do win all 3 or leics lose at tb on Friday then the teams above us would be notts derby and Northants should they beat Durham....then it will be up to the lancys to put us through by beating warks

Forget about the lancys nrr it is far inferior and is very unlikely they will catch our nrr.

Started to watch Derby v Durham but Durham were so poor I abandoned it after 4 overs.

Bit of a recovery thanks to Poynter but confidence is not high. Listening now hope it gets close enough to be worth watching the last 5 overs.

Whatever happens if we lose on Thursday that's it but otherwise it's Friday really when we need the other games to go our way.

Durham are very poor, I can not see them beating Northants on Friday. So even if we win on Thursday, Northants will finish above us.

Lancashire have to beat Warwickshire on Friday for us to go through.

Blimey there's some negativity around here! Considering the start they made Durham did well tonight and at one point actually looked favourites. They certainly have a chance Friday, as do Lancashire against a bit and miss Birmingham side. One step at a time, let's have a win on Thursday and relax knowing our NRR is excellent and the other sides then also have to win. T20 is a great equalizer, anything can happen!

Can't get my head round this NRR.

Before tonight's match the table on the BBC website gave Derbyshire's as 0.4150.

After the match it showed it as 0.4090.

So you can win a game and the rate gets worse?

Not really negative just been hoping for Durham to help us get better odds by knocking back some of the opposition.

The way it's going, presuming we do win on Thursday, we might end up needing all 4 of the matches on Friday to go our way.

Nothing worse than when it's taken out of your own hands.

David: on the NRR, yes it can get worse by winning if you win by less than the average amount by which you have won your previous games.

Example:

Yorkshire (140) beat Lancashire (120) by 20 runs. NRR +1.0. (Yorks run rate 7.0, opposition 6.0).
Yorkshire (140) beat Durham (130) by 10 runs. NRR for that game is +0.5, overall NRR is now +0.75. (Yorks run rate 7.0, opposition 6.25 [250/40]).

To be honest, if we're unable to beat Durham, Leics and Derbyshire twice we don't deserve favours, and with this squad we shouldn't have to rely on them. I just hope we at least keep our side of the bargain and win on Thursday.

If Leics beat Derby on Thursday then lose to Notts on Friday, while Derby are losing to Worcs, we will finish above both Leics and Derby assuming we beat Northants.
With the same assumption. we go ahead of Northants if their final match is a tie or no result - it doesn't have to be a win for Durham.

You have hit the nail on the head there JG. One win from the 5 matches against Durham, Derbyshire & Leics shows that we deserve to be were we are - struggling to qualify!!
