Ok, so we might be a good side right now and have been for a few years, but it's inevitable at some point, possibly in the near future, that more of our players will spend more time with England, whilst others are getting old and retiring, and the production line will inevitably exhaust. Let's face it it's working very well for Hampshire this year, if we find ourselves requiring a few players for a new season is it time for us to let go of tradition and consider this as an option?

And wasn't Jaques a Kolpak for one spell with us too? Phil Jaques not Jacques Rudolph who was a Kolpak with Kruis until he then reneged and went back to play for the Saffers.

No, Phil had an English passport. Think one or both of his parents were born here.

Rudolph never could make up his mind. Went back to South Africa for family reasons, only to pitch up in South London and then South Wales. At least the South bit was consistent.

The past is another country, as someone clever once said.

I can't see Kolpaks as being something we need to think about for the foreseeable future.

The production line seems pretty healthy at the moment. A quality overseas, and the occasional signing from another county should do us nicely.

Should see me out anyway.

Looking forward to seeing the future on Thursday.

Looks a very dodgy forecast for Thursday, so D/L will be the winner.
