Regarding Williamson's availability, the only cricket New Zealand are playing this summer is the Champions Trophy and the Kiwis are next back in action until late November. In recent years, New Zealand have toured the West Indies and South Africa (twice) during their traditional off-season.

Bearing in mind the New Zealand domestic season does not traditionally begin until late October, Williamson might fancy getting some County Cricket in after a period of rest. No better opportunity to come in later August as a direct replacement for Handscombe and Williamson has publically stated he enjoys coming back to Yorkshire whenever possible.

Also in 2018, New Zealand play no cricket from April to later October whilst most test nations are on international duty at some point after the IPL.

It would be good to see Kane, rested and in a better frame of mind than he was in 2016. I'm watching him currently batting in the T20 at Napier against Bangladesh - class act.

Meanwhile, Handscomb is 40 not out overnight in the Sydney Test.

Clearly a good player - does this mean we'll get to see less of him....?

We do seem very good at locating high quality but relatively unknown overseas players.

I think we're fine if he remains in the test side only. If he breaks into the limited overs team we might be b******d!

Maybe we do a swap with Renshaw if he ends up in their ODI set-up!

Glad we signed him when we did as his price might just have increased in the last month!
