Can we make Jake Ball an honorary member......?
Let's not get carried away though. Siddy did something similar last year.

They'll never come back from a start like that, er, will they Ryan?

Just as well the ecb graciously allowed Ball to play for Notts after his drinks making for the odi squad recently.

Hat trick in first over dismissing two ex England openers with a nightwatchman sandwiched in between.

Meanwhile, at the close of the FIRST day at Taunton, Somerset are 41/1 in their SECOND innings - a lead of 13...!!!!!

21 wickets at Taunton and 17 at Leicester.

Busy day for pitch inspectors heading in opposite directions from Lords.

No doubt it will be bad batting and not poor tracks to avoid points deductions

That's the third ridiculous pitch like this that they have prepared at Taunton this season: against Durham neither side made it to 200 in either innings, against Surrey there were two innings under 150 and then 120 plays 90 today. The roads they produced there for years- of which there have also been a few this season- offered no balance between bat and ball, and these are just as bad.

On a separate note, well done and many thanks to Samit Patel and Jake Ball!

I'm waiting for overnight news from the ECB that they have called Ball up to the t20 squad and requested that Robson and Compton be given another first innings knock so the selectors can assess their form for the winter tours.

The pitch inspectors will deem the track at Taunton to be fine but raise concerns over the Trent Bridge track despite only 13 wickets falling in the day. As a result they will wither award the game to Middlesex or insist the game starts again.

Samit Patel will be banned from bowling due to a suspect action and in his new role Mick Newell as England selector will be given a wild card to play when he wants to overturn an umpires decision. Newell will in a fit of anger at his replacement as Notts coach then use it to overturn Malans dismissal in the morning.

Gus Fraser will then want one too and he will play his overnight and demand Robson be given not out and reinstated.

One for the purists at Trent Bridge. 56/1 this morning session.

Second wicket of the day just gone down.

Looks like Middlesex may not get any batting points at this rate of 1.8 an over after 43.
