Lots of interesting cricket today. Unfortunately the Champions Trophy wasn't in the interesting category.

Middlesex have a lot to do to save being beaten by Lancashire, who'd have thunk it, after last week.

Surrey v Essex could go either way but I would put a draw as the least likely result.

Kent really deserve the points for holding poor old Durham to a draw. Kent look to be a tough team and might well be joining Notts in Div 1 next season.

Pity it's such a long way, but if they replace Somerset that will be fair enough.

Worcestershire seem to be hitting a bit of turbulence. Two losses on the trot since the TKC affair. Funny old game.

Another round of matches, another defeat for Derbyshire.

And that one defeat was a meaningless game against Worcestershire last game of 2015 season. Excluding that they haven't lost in the CC since against us at Headingley 2 years ago

Looks like Essex are going to win. We may have 2 extra hours' rest than Surrey before tomorrow!

Strange team are Lancashire - capitulated at Headingley last week when a bit of resolve from their batsmen might have earned them a rain-affected draw.

Essex & Surrey both good teams yet Lancashire (away to both) had a 1st innings lead of more than 150.

2 hours start on the journey, but possibly 2 hrs longer travelling.

Poor scheduling for two reasons.

less than 24 hrs after finishing one match. Why not play the matches on Wednesday?

The quarter and semi-finals of the only domestic 50 over competition in the same week as the Champions Trophy k/o matches.

Would not it have made more sense to have had the k/o stages of this comp., before the Champions Trophy as warm-up matches for the England players.

It always amazes me that it takes the ECB 8 weeks to formulate the fixtures, yet they still manage to make a pigs ears of them.

Who would have predicted Essex top and Hampshire third at the start of the season.

The games are being played tomorrow because Sky want one of the games on TV, but not clashing with the CT semi-finals.

A more logical alternative would surely have been to play them next week. Even though there's are the T20s it surely wouldn't be a problem to release players for 1 or 2 50 over games

Notts are going at a rate of knots at Taunton. They keeping a high scoring rate up, i thought they'd tail off after the first few overs. At this rate they'll be on for 400+.

Elsewhere Belgium are playing Austria but both teams seem very top heavy in having an Asian influence with few local sounding Names.
