"Into the top ten: England's Jonny Bairstow has broken into the ICC's top 10 of Test batting rankings for the first time, to move above captain Alastair Cook, and has also claimed the most Test victims for a wicketkeeper in a calendar year." - Yorkshire Post

I think he is also in line to break the total number of runs scored by a test batsman in a calendar year, and, even if not reaching that landmark, he could well beat MV`s record by an English player.

He's had an excellent and hopefully he'll take the English record off the ever more annoying Vaughan. However, I think he'll struggle to score the 434 runs required to top Mohammad Yousuf for the all time record.

You're probably right about the overall record, another 127 needed to beat Vaughan's record for England and go into the top 10 overall, hopefully he can pass that which would be a fantastic achievement.
