2005, England regained The Ashes for the first time in 16 years. A draw at The Oval secured a 2-1 series win!

It was indeed. I remember missing school to watch the final day... I don't think there will ever be a series which captures the public consciousness like that again.

I agree it will be the last Test series to capture the public imagination as it was the last on free to air TV.

Really was a cracking series though, I think even Brett Lee when he retired chose it as his favourite series. Its a cliché but cricket was the winner.
