There's a good write up of the county season in the latest issue of the cricketer magazine including a double page spread on "number crunching" not the usual averages etc which are included elsewhere. Among the numbers are some interesting ones for Yorkshire:
3.44 - the average number of players absent per championship game (through injury/call ups etc) this was the 2nd highest behind Hampshire's 4.22 (have they had a lot of injuries?) Middlesex were 1.03 and Somerset 0.87.
Our average run rate scored and conceded were middling on both counts as we're our average innings runs scored and conceded (amazingly they were both the same - 286)
11.93% - The percentage of appearances made for us by overseas players (8 appearances by 3 different players) and players whose formative years were spent outside the UK (13 appearances by 1 player - Ballance I guess?). This was the 2nd lowest % with Worcs on 9.7. Middlesex were joint highest here with 42.05%!

Good point jollyd. We should also remember how long bairstow had to wait for his first ton. Leaning is a very good player. Probably fair to say that he can't afford another poor season but equally fair to say that there is every chance he will come good again.
