Keeps doing well at Test level, and has an average now of 54.92, but can`t seem to hack it at county level. I wonder why?

Based on Handscomb's performances behind the stumps for us, perhaps we should expect Andy Hodd to be called up to international games. He is a far superior performer in all respects.

Maybe we ended up with Hanscomb and the Aussies have a different bloke called Handscomb?

Unfair to hold him up against a proper wicketkeeper.

If Hodd had been any good with the bat in white ball cricket, Handscomb wouldn't have needed to keep.

He seemed like a nice guy but he was young and didn't have the experience, which is what we really needed.

Yet, oddly, he achieved a fine stumping in one game, off Rashid's googly.

Equally oddly, Hodd was one year earlier seen as a T20 specialist opening bat, following a fine innings in the competition in U.A.E. Of a thousand little decisions like that, a season is made. Would a different decision have yielded better results? We can speculate, but we can never know.

He looked quite good against spin when playing for Yorkshire I thought, so not too surprised to see him in the runs in Bangladesh. He wouldn't be the first Aussie to be comfortable against spin and against pace & bounce but who struggles with a bit of lateral movement- that arguably describes the majority of their current batting line-up...

Which is why they are keen to come over to play for counties in England so when in the test team they have some experience of these conditions.

And why the Indian policy backfires when they play tests against us.

Agree 5 test v a half hearted Indian team after a long ipl isn't right

I think the Indians have recognised that too, and are now keener for their Test players to get the chance to play county cricket. Pujara and Ashwin are over here now (though the latter isn't in the Worcs side for this round of matches for some reason) and Kohli has apparently stated that he would love to play county cricket ahead of next year's tour...
