"If England have learned one thing so far this winter – and perhaps we should hope that they have learned a good deal more than that – it is the utter folly of scheduling a Test series as a warm-up to another Test series." - Jon Liew

If we're judging teams on their sub continent record then there's a fair teams in disarray.

Not Liew's best piece, I usually enjoy his stuff. I'd have thought playing test matches in subcontinent conditions is better preparation for India than two day 14 a side games. We'll get hammered, like Australia and South Africa got hammered. India will then get thrashed against all three away from home. Home advantage, not rocket science.

Bizarre he writes Moeen Ali was only considered good enough for England at number 8 a few months ago now they're looking at him for number 4 given he opened the batting not 2 years ago. Same could be said of Ben Stokes and now he's nailed on for number 6. Definitely not a good piece from him.

Liew is not a serious cricket writer. He seems to write about several sports.

Ali is a better player than a number 8 but suffers by being picked for his bowling option rather than his strength
