Not as wet as yesterday morning in leeds but I think god has shown he is a Yorkshireman this week with the rain saving us from a hammering, the coin toss stopping the ecb from getting Ballance a knock against the pink ball and all today offers is the potential for a debate about bonus points and declarations

Just bat all day (or night) and take the bonus points.

Since we have another innings we should be throwing the bat later to reach the bonus points. We can't lose 19 wickets in a day can we?

Hope the weather turns out better than it looks.

Going over to see a few people and hopefully watch a bit of cricket.

Think the points for a draw are safe so realistically we can go at it a bit, if the weather lets us.

Looking ahead I should imagine North Marine Road must be nearly underwater, just like my garden. Didn't stop raining for a minute yesterday, just about stopped now.

Think the groundsman will need the two decent days we have forecast Saturday and Sunday. Touch wood longer forecast looks decent.

Even with good drainage I can't think there'll be much hope of substantial play today. It rained virtually the whole of yesterday and into the night here.
As for the season omens, it's not a good sign that we were thrashed by Middx who are being tanked by Essex, a side we still have to play, and we're on the wrong end of this one too. It looks worse and worse, and I'm starting to side with the poster who raised the R word. Hope I'm wrong.
Coad's progress has been a plus, but look at it another way and a newcomer showing our bowlers how to do it is worrying to say the least.

Brian - we have Essex to play twice and as you say, Middlesex thumped us and Essex are about to hammer Middlesex.

After Scarborough next week, which is now becoming a "must win" match we have just 5 fixtures left, 2 against Essex, Middlesex (our bogey team), Surrey at the Oval and Warwickshire. The most likely scenario from those, is one win (against Warwickshire) from the five.

Could be a late start today, as it is still raining, I think, and will not stop till about 1pm (according to the forecast). Then some mopping up, so very likely a delayed start, which would mean less time to get any batting bonus points (80 overs?).

If there's one sport where the whole "they beat us but lost to them so we'll lose to everyone" nonsense does not apply, it's cricket.

Hi. Is there anyone at the ground who can advise on the current weather situation, prospects of play, potential start time etc?
Just contemplating when to set off from York.

Agree with Seadog.

Cricket can depend so much on conditions, form, luck and fine margins. Warwickshire have been terrible this season but it wouldn't be a suprise to see Bell put on 200 and take the match away from us at Headingley. Likewise we have the quality to beat anyone.

No excuses for the poor performance against Middlesex but if the toss had gone the other way and they'd had a few hours fielding in the heat the roles could've easily been reversed.
