We need to remember that many of our assumptions are predicated on Somerset winning. Of course this is highly likely but not a foregone conclusion.

But that 9th wicket will do nicely!
Agreed. but we need to see somerset do well in order to force middlesex to go for the win.

anyway, thats our 9th wicket and max bonus points

part 1 done, now we need to score 350...a big ask but if we can, we have 2 chances to win the match.

we could bowl middx out or if they bat well second time around they will be forced to declare and set us a run chase, so long as somerset look like winning still.

If we don't score 350 are we out of the title race or does it depend on the Somerset Notts game?

Makes me laugh this commentary. Whenever we discuss tactics on here, we are told that the players/coaches always know best. Listening to this drivel now, makes you wonder!

Only if Somerset don't get 3 bonus bowling points or if they don't win. I think that's very unlikely and we have to assume won't happen.

The players need telling WE NEED the 350 in 110. 349 not good enough

1st job done nowI think we need 100 opening partnership to stand a chance. It seems to be feast or famine for the two L's

Fitting that Brooks and Bresnan have done the damage in the final match of this season.

Now we need someone who may not have performed this season to step up with the bat.

Now more than ever, do we need our top and middle order to show their mettle.

Straight forward now. We have to get 350 off 110 overs and win assuming Somerset get all 3 bowling bonus points and also win.

The Sky guys still do not get it and still banging on about us picking 5 seamers and this weakening the batting. It is not deliberate, a plan, a tactic, or a ploy, it was forced upon us by having Lehmann, Bairstow & Root being unavailable. No other sensible options available.

Hope Willey gets a 100 now, as, with hindsight, Plunkett would appear to have been the better choice. Willey has had a shocker so far.

wouldn't it be quite poetic if a root century hands us the title, billy at taunton that is of course.

wonder how keen he would be to do the business?
